The Common Core State Standards, outlining expectations for English and math proficiencies upon high school graduation, were designed to offer states voluntarily adopted common standards to improve their ability to share best practices. Having widely adopted common standards for high school graduation could be a useful tool in improving the alignment between K-12 and postsecondary education if they relate well to readiness standards for core college-level courses. This study examines survey data from postsecondary instructors who were asked to rate the applicability and importance of these standards to success in core college courses, providing detailed breakdowns on ratings.
